Allan Hancock College was founded in 1920 in Northern Santa Barbara County – the year when the Santa Maria High School District began holding junior college classes. It began by holding college classes in high school rooms. To accommodate the increasing number of enrollees, the Regents at the California Community College District decided to move from the high school campus to Hancock Field. This happened in 1954. After completion of the 12 month program, students are permitted to sit for the NCLEX-PN Boards. During the program, students are expected to be able to learn how to offer care and services to those who are sick, disabled, injured and convalescent with the supervision of doctors and registered nurses.

How Long Does it Take to Complete the LVN Program?

The LVN program offered by Allan Hancock College takes 12 months, full time, to complete. AHC makes it a point to offer this one year program annually from January to December. It also offers a summer session. It can prepare you to hold your future ahead as an LVN.

Some of the topics covered in the classroom are basic subjects and concepts linked to nursing, particularly those about patient care. Medical surgical nursing, physiology, pediatrics, first aid, pharmacology, obstetrics nursing, and nutrition are also covered. Presently hold a license as a psychiatric technician or a CNA certification in California

Prospective Students Must Pass a Background Check

If you are a certified nursing assistant (CNA) in California, then you are also eligible to take part in the program provided you meet all the requirements stated above. By completing the program, you can prepare yourself to become a more effective LVN. Being part of the program also means adhering to all the drug screening and background check requirements of the authorized clinical agencies.
